Jehan Casinader wanted to be a journalist at age four. At 13 the Lower Hutt local got a story about The Lord of the Rings on Holmes, and at 17 he'd earned a weekly slot on Breakfast covering youth issues. After getting a Bachelor of Arts at Victoria University, Casinader rejoined TVNZ in 2010 as a reporter for Close Up, followed by its successor show Seven Sharp and current affairs slot Sunday. At the 2018 NZ TV Awards he was named Reporter of the Year. The same year, his mental health talk show The Inside Word debuted on TVNZ Duke. In 2020 Casinader left Sunday and wrote book This Is Not How It Ends, on his mental health struggles.
