Auckland-raised Scott Flyger got his first big editing break on high profile documentary Rubber Gloves or Green Fingers, and went on to spend 12 years in London, where he cut a range of high profile dramas, comedies and documentaries. Now based in Christchurch, Flyger runs postproduction house Due South Films.

Biography

Although some might argue that editors do most of their travelling from inside a darkened edit suite, Scott Flyger’s CV shows clear signs of having left the building.

Flyger grew up on the Whangaparāoa Peninsula north of Auckland, then relocated to the big smoke as a teen. After breaking into editing via Shortland Street, he spent 12 years in London, where he found himself cutting together images of bad girls, footballers wives, rock stars, and sundry comedians. These days based in Christchurch, where he runs post-production company Due South Films, Flyger continues to work on a variety of projects, and has expanded into producing.

“When you’re editing shows with the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and Ronnie Wood there are a ton of opinions flying around — not to mention crockery — but in the end the product speaks for itself. They're great shows to work on, but it’s a lot safer back in New Zealand!”
