Aro

Husband and wife duo Aro, Charles and Emily Looker, first met while studying Music at Auckland University. Known for waiata that "skips between jazz, folk and other genres," they released their debut album Manu in 2019, followed by He Rākau, He Ngārara in 2024, which won Best Pop Album at the Waiata Māori Music Awards. Aro has also been nominated for the APRA Maioha Award in 2019, and twice for Best Children’s song at the Waiata Māori Awards (2019 and 2023). Sharing a passion for music, tamariki and mātauranga Māori, the pair have also toured tailor made education programmes to schools and Kura Kaupapa across Aotearoa.
