Film (Excerpts) – 2011

Korean restaurateurs Jung Jin-Sung and Lee Kyung-Mee share how their lives were impacted by the 2011 Christchurch earthquake in this documentary excerpt. The couple, who moved to Christchurch in 2003, were in the process of opening a third restaurant when the February 2011 earthquake hit. Respected South Korean filmmaker Park Kiyong (1997's Motel Cactus) tells the couple's story via interviews interspersed with shots of Christchurch. Feature-length documentary Moving premiered at the 2011 NZ International Film Festival.

They'd only seen what I'd done here as an immigrant. They didn't care less about what I did before. I was only a small eatery owner here.
– Jung Jin-Sung (translated), on the skepticism he and his partner Lee Kyung-Mee faced when they bought a far larger restaurant
