Described as a "grassroots catch ‘em and cook ‘em style series", Piri's Tiki Tour celebrated the hunter-gatherers of Māori communities, and the kai they provide their whānau. Presented by former All Black Piri Weepu (beloved for often leading the team haka between 2005 and 2013), the series followed him making friends wherever he went, speaking in English and te reo Māori. The series ran for six seasons from 2018 to 2021, with Weepu travelling all across the motu: spearfishing in the Coromandel, eeling in Dunedin and even peacock-hunting in Whakatāne. In 2019 the series won Best Lifestyle Programme at the NZ Television Awards.
