Roche

Television, 1985

Gritty 1980s drama Roche was created by Dean Parker, working with producer Peter Muxlow. The action takes place at 'Roche Bros', a Lower Hutt trucking business set up by Mick Roche (John Bach), with brother and 'likeable rogue' Tony (Andy Anderson) and sister Kate (Denise O'Connell) on the payroll. Danny Mulheron played Billy, the youngest sibling and most progressive of the male characters. The cast and writers Parker, Greg McGee and Simon O'Connor explored themes of class, race and gender through a diverse range of supporting characters. A second series was planned, then canned because of disappointing ratings.
