Family band Herma Keil and members of The Keil Isles perform their smooth break-up song 'Teardrops' at the iconic Shortland Street Studio in Auckland. Propped up on their own individual podiums, Keil sings of a lost love (whose teardrops just won't work on him!), whilst the band play mysteriously in the shadows. The performance was pre-recorded for the 1965 Loxene Golden Disc Awards — a precursor to the Aotearoa Music Awards — where it was nominated for Best Single. Although they lost to Ray Columbus and the Invaders, 'Teardrops' went on to win the first-ever APRA Silver Scroll Award for songwriter Wayne Kent-Healey.
