The Enduring Land

Television, 1990

This Gibson Group documentary series studies New Zealand's agricultural industry from pre-colonisation through to 20th century innovations and technologies. Using a mix of narration and dramatic reenactments, the four-part series introduces key New Zealand farming personalities like 19th century estate holder William 'Ready Money' Robinson, and champion shearer Godfrey Bowen. Written by author Fiona Kidman, The Enduring Land marked Ruud Kleinpaste's television debut; he later found fame as the 'Bug Man' in a run of television shows, including What Now? and Buggin' with Ruud.
