In this episode of reality series Colonial House, the Hutton family, who are living as if it were 1852, put the finishing touches to their new V-hut cabin. Dad Ross mixes up a 150-year-old waterproofing recipe of ash, sand and clay, hoping it will be enough to keep the rain out of their hut. Meanwhile, the children face their first day at a one-room schoolhouse, and the boys try their hand at churning homemade butter. After weeks of waiting, the end of their camping days are in sight, when the Hutton's furniture and belongings finally make the journey by barge from Lyttelton across the treacherous Sumner Bar.
