Many hands make light work in this episode of Colonial House, as the Hutton family’s church neighbours — all dressed in period clothing to match the family’s 1850s experiment — rally around to help thatch their colonial hut. Then, after weeks immersed in settler life, the Huttons are excited to get a rare day out in Christchurch, travelling by horse and cart to the busy city. Dressed in their historical Sunday best, the Huttons quickly become a curiosity as they explore Riccarton House and Bush, picnic in the park, punt on the Avon and even squeeze in a cheeky pub dinner.
