This 1999 episode of documentary series Inside Out examines the aftermath of war for those left with lifelong disabilities and mental health struggles from their service. Directed by Peter Coates, the episode touches on a number of wars and battles that have involved New Zealand soldiers, including the Vietnam War, the El Alamein campaign of World War ll, and more recent peacekeeping missions. The consequences of radiation are also explored, with interviews from New Zealanders affected by the atomic bomb in Hiroshima and the Christmas Island/Kiritimati nuclear tests of the 1950s.
