Director Lillian Hanly is a researcher and television journalist. She also has a 50% chance of inheriting Huntington's, a neurodegenerative disease with no cure. Since the diagnosis of her late grandfather — renowned painter Pat Hanley — her whānau have been faced with the gut-wrenching decision to either test for the disease, or leave their futures unknown. In this short, poetic documentary for Loading Docs, Lillian Hanly interviews her partner and various family members on their attitudes towards testing. But perhaps more importantly, she hears their moving insights on how to truly live life, in the face of suffering.
