Veteran journalist turned producer Richard Harman launched current affairs show The Nation in 2010. Broadcast on Saturday mornings on Three, the interview-based series focused on politics. Stephen Parker and Duncan Garner were the original presenters; later hosts included Sean Plunket, Lisa Owen, Rachel Smalley, Emma Jolliff and Simon Shepherd. The one-hour long programme featured in-depth interviews, plus panel discussions and prerecorded stories. From 2014, The Nation was made in-house by TV3. In February 2018 it was rebranded as Newshub Nation; it continued under that banner until 2023.
