Koro’s Hat explores the relationship between a mokopuna, known as ‘Babe’ (Stacey Taylor and Tiffany-Ema Walters), and her grandfather (Wiremu 'Bill' Tāwhai). Through the interwoven experiences of Koro and Babe, past and present, themes of colonisation, racism and language loss are revealed. Babe feels the weight of her koro’s passing in a dream, and at the tangi retrieves his treasured hat. This drama is a lament on loss, and the ways life carries on through whakapapa and tikanga. Ngā Puna Executive Producer Don Selwyn won Best Director at a Canadian Indigenous People's Film Festival for this instalment of the anthology series.
