The Kiwi version of The Project debuted on 20 February 2017. Screening five nights a week after Three's primetime news bulletin, the panel show offered a mix of news bulletins, current affairs and entertainment. The hosts interviewed newsmakers and traded quips with a guest panellist. Three purchased the format from Australian Rove McManus's company Roving Productions. In 2018 original hosts Jesse Mulligan and Kanoa Lloyd were joined by Jeremy Corbett (7 Days). The many guest panellists included Josh Thomson and Jaquie Brown. The show ended in December 2023, as part of a move to "capture digital audiences".
