This episode of Waka Huia documents a wānanga at Mōkai Kāinga marae in Kāwhia, where Tina Wirihana and Rama Kete teach fellow kairaranga how to naturally dye muka using resources. Local kaumātua of Kāwhia Moana share knowledge relating to the histories of Tainui waka, as well as the kōrero of the whenua of Kāwhia. The process of extracting and dyeing muka is then shown, and students share what they have learnt from re-engaging with the ancient knowledges of their tūpuna.
