Te Radar (aka Andrew Lumsden) began his screen career competing on stand-up show A Bit More After 10. In this Funny As extended interview, he talks about using comedy as a gateway to documentaries, and other topics, including:

  • Starting stand-up comedy at university by forming group Spleen with friends Duncan Sarkies, Aaron Watson and Jesse Griffin
  • How being a "terrible" writer helped hone his improv skills on stage and screen
  • Becoming a "comedy war correspondent", and getting United Nations press credentials in East Timor by using a TVNZ visitors card
  • How Marcus Lush not being able to commit to a television show led to Te Radar becoming a household name for sustainable living, via 2008 show Off the Radar 
  • Thinking he was going to die after being bitten by a scorpion while in Mali, for this Intrepid Journeys episode
