Amanda Gillies began her journalism career in hometown Gisborne as a reporter for The Gisborne Herald, before joining TV3 in 2001. In 2009, while working as Australia correspondent for 3 News, her coverage of the Victoria Bushfires won a Qantas Film and TV Award for Best News Reporting. She went on to spend time on the Campbell Live team. Gillies was nominated again for Best News Reporting in 2012. In late 2016 she filled in for Heather Du Plessis-Allan on flagship 7pm show Story, and in February 2017 joined Duncan Garner and Mark Richardson on TV3's new morning multimedia simulcast, The AM Show.
