In April 2024 media conglomerate Warner Bros Discovery confirmed the closure of the Newshub newsroom. At 6pm on 5 July, Newshub delivered its final prime time bulletin. Presenters Samantha Hayes and Mike McRoberts keep their emotions in check to deliver the day's big stories, including government funding for cancer drugs and a British Labour Party landslide ending 14 years of Conservative rule. But the major story is Newshub's demise.
