Ant Nevison’s career in sound began in bands and recording studios before focusing on sound for the screen. Returning from an OE in the late 1980s, he brought back experience as a music engineer at London’s Battery Studios and went on to play a pivotal role in establishing inner-city Auckland’s unconventional Incubator Studios. Many iconic New Zealand albums were recorded there, including Body Blow by the Headless Chickens, who Nevison had joined as a band member. After leaving the band, Nevison pursued a freelance film and television career, working on location recording, scoring music and as a post-production engineer doing ADR, foley and mixing. His numerous and diverse credits include series (Give It A Whirl, New Artland), feature documentaries (Anchor Me: The Don McGlashan Story, Never Look Away), scripted television (Shortland Street, Topless Women Talk About Their Lives) and feature film Crush. Ant Nevison passed away in November 2025.
