Two years after graduating from acting studies at Unitec, Sophie Henderson joined the cast of Outrageous Fortune. She played Bailey, the hard-nosed lawyer girlfriend of the West twins. In 2013 her acclaimed debut movie Fantail premiered at the NZ International Film Festival. Henderson wrote and starred, playing "a girl called Tania who thinks she’s Māori". Henderson and her director partner Curtis Vowell followed it with Rose Matafeo pregnancy tale Baby Done and theatre romcom Workmates. Henderson has also co-starred in movie Human Traces, as a scientist on an isolated island, and wrote 2021 drama The Justice of Bunny King
