Having gained attention as a musician, Troy Kingi ended up playing one on-screen in 2013 hit Mt Zion. He’s since acted in other features, including a cameo as an Auckland Warriors loving dad in Hunt For The Wilderpeople. As a musician, he has been nominated for a Silver Scroll, won the prestigious Taite Music Prize and collaborated on a number two single ('Aotearoa'). On the small screen he played All Black Piri Weepu in TV movie The Kick, and joined the second season of Find Me a Māori Bride. In 2020 he co-starred in TV movie Toke, as one of a trio of orchard workers who accidentally grow some unusually strong cannabis.
