Bachelorette

Christchurch-born songwriter and musician Annabel Alpers started her musical career in the 1990s, playing in surf rock bands. She created her solo act Bachelorette in the mid 2000s, a project music writer Gareth Shute described as "a kind of woman-machine interface with wry, 1960s girl-group-influenced songs about fragile relationships". Alpers won critical acclaim for her 2004 debut album Isolation Loops; albums My Electric Family (2009) and Bachelorette (2011) followed. Alpers extensively toured in the United States and in 2010 moved permanently to Baltimore, where she creates music aimed at a more immersive live experience.
