Hui Pacific

Television, 1983–1984

Variety show Hui Pacific was filmed in front of a live audience, showcasing singers and performers from New Zealand and around the Pacific. Host and musician Frankie Stevens introduced acts with smooth Las Vegas-honed banter. Talent included a young Kim Willoughby, dance group Limbs, Moana Maniapoto, Annie Crummer and 1984 Entertainer of the Year Rhonda Bryers. Hui Pacific was broadcast as a one-off TVNZ special in 1983 (filmed at the Maota Samoa Fale in Auckland) and returned as a three-part series in 1984.
