So we got married there in November and in December we were posted to Fiji for two years! It was basically like a long honeymoon.

He said don’t fly over that fire base. He pointed out over to the left a bit… I said why? He said because those silly bastards they’ll shoot at you. I said: but we’re friendly! He said: they don’t care.

The other training base was Dong Ba Thin and normally it was quite a safe place because that place was being patrolled by Republic of South Korean forces. And where they are there’s generally hardly any terrorist problems, because they don’t ask questions.
