Midge Marsden

One of New Zealand's preeminent blues musicians, New Plymouth-born Keith Marsden got his break with 1960s R&B band The Breakaways. After time performing in Australia he returned home; by the 1980s he was touring Aotearoa often. During an early visit to the United States, he befriended legendary guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan. The Texan featured on one of the beloved 'Travellin' On' adverts with Marsden and Murray Grindlay. In the 1990s Marsden studied Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi, and taught blues music at the Waikato Institute of Technology. Later he was made a member of the NZ Order of Merit.
