Ngaire Fuata topped the Kiwi charts for five weeks in 1990 with her take on 60s classic 'To Sir with Love', originally sung by Lulu. Album Ngaire, released in 1991, included further singles 'So Divine' and Ardijah remake 'When the Feeling is Gone’. Ngaire was born in England to a Rotuman musician father and a Dutch mother. The family migrated to Whakatāne, where Ngaire fine-tuned her singing at church and kapa haka. She was working in television, on shows like Telethon 1988 and the 1990 Commonwealth Games, when her singing career took off. She has worked on Pacific magazine show Tagata Pasifika for over 20 years.
