NZ Wars

Journalist Mihingarangi Forbes co-wrote and presents these award-winning online documentaries about the New Zealand Wars. NZ Wars uses animation and dramatic reenactments to recreate battles fought between Māori and British armed forces in the late 1800s. Made by Great Southern for Radio New Zealand, the series began in 2017 with The Stories of Ruapekapeka, about fighting at Northland's state of the art Ruapekapeka Pā. It was named Best Documentary and Best Māori Programme. Later instalments on Waitara, Wairua and Tauranga Moana also took away the latter award.
