Send a Gorilla

Film (Excerpts) – 1988

PG
Parental Guidance

This frenetic female forward feature is set on Valentine's Day. Singing telegram company Send-a-Gorilla is short-staffed and drowning in orders from Wellingtonians of all stripes, including those with revenge in mind. The story idea came from co-star Perry Piercy, who had done time as a singer for hire. In this excerpt, the telegram trio witness another kind of telegram in-between delivering their own, and Clare (Carmel McGlone) finds herself doing a gorillagram for her ex's new girlfriend. Director Melanie Rodriga (Trial Run) worked with many of the Send a Gorilla cast and crew on TV's The Marching Girls.

Of course 'women libbers' have taken all the fun out of romance, which is all it ever had going for it if you ask me..
– Talkback radio host Chris Dean (John Callen) expounds on one of his many theories
