Energetic and goofy, Steriogram featured two vocalists who melded rock and hip hop. In 1999 Whāngarei’s Jake Adams and Brad Carter teamed with Aucklanders Tyson Kennedy and Tim Youngson. Kennedy, originally the drummer, impressed with his rapping, and the band became known for manic energy, melodies and putting the fun into funk. Early use of the net built a wide fan base. After a US talent scout saw video 'White Trash', Steriogram signed to Capitol Records. Their debut album Schmack! also contained ‘Walkie Talkie Man’, whose American-shot video went global. The band have performed rarely since 2010 album Taping the Radio
