In this eight-part web series, host and director Brady Peeti explores what it means to be trans in Aotearoa in 2023 — a huge year for trans activism and visibility, in politics and the media. Brady shares her story across two episodes that bookend the series, and meets six other members of the trans community: Lexie, Gemmah, Phylesha, Sarah Michelle, Rhi and Shaneel. Traversing a range of ages, backgrounds and gender expressions, their stories reflect the diverse range of trans experiences in New Zealand, as well as the threads that bind the community. Common themes across the series include mental health, sex work, community and the power of having a passion. The full episode guide is here.
And right now, our whole trans whanau has never been more visible.– Host and director Brady Peeti introducing the series, episode one
