Work of Art (anthology series)

Television, 1993

Anthology series Work of Art aired in 1993, after producer Robin Laing became concerned over the lack of New Zealand dramatic television from a female perspective. Laing recruited four female directors (Gaylene Preston, Shereen Maloney, Pat Robins and Kate JasonSmith) to each bring one episode to life. The woman-centric drama episodes covered a range of topics; forbidden romance (Mother Tongue), gender roles (Married), love after loss (Matrons of Honour) and familial issues (Xmas for Lou). Also known as Anthology Drama, the series utilised a female-heavy cast and crew.
