Pictorial Parade No. 163

1965 Short film
  • Documentary
  • NZ History
  • Dance

In this Pictorial Parade from 1965, three different regions of New Zealand  and three vastly different activities  are showcased. Firstly, the magazine-style newsreel visits the Canterbury high country, where members of Parliament admire efforts to restore native bush by deer culling. Then in Palmerston North, the fifth World Jersey Conference showcases a fine selection of Jersey cows. Finally, jazz dancing (inspired by the rhythms of the city), takes centre stage. A visit to a high school dance championship transitions into a dramatic performance from Kelston Girls' High School, in true Pictorial Parade style.
