After almost three months living in Pioneer House, the Feyen family say goodbye to 1900 and hello to 2001 as they return to their modern life. There’s one last morning to endure squeezing into corsets and heavy layers, while Michael takes a final chance to enjoy an outdoor bath. After reflecting on their time in the house, the family shed their period clothes for modern attire. In Palmerston North they are reunited with friends and family, and they find they have a new appreciation for the simple pleasures of 21st century life: hot showers, makeup, and kitchen appliances.
