Style Pasifika showcased Pacific Island contemporary and traditional fashion design, plus music and dance. Both the live event and the TV coverage were produced by Stan Wolfgramm and Julie Smith; Wolfgramm usually co-hosted, alongside someone from TVNZ's stable of talent. The first Style Pasifika special screened in 2000 (before that, the live show was covered by TVNZ’s magazine series Tagata Pasifika). The live event continued until 2011. The specials won three NZ awards for Best Event Broadcast or Entertainment Programme.
