About
The Lord of the Rings film trilogy made New Zealand's scenery world famous. Capitalising on that interest, The Middle-earth Connection is a three-part documentary series that references the film's locations and story to explore the country's environmental issues. The half-hour episodes were written, directed and produced by David Jacobs who also made sustainability documentary Rubber Gloves or Green Fingers. Released in 2005, the series aired on TV One, and a modified version later played on BBC World as Middle-earth Reports.
