In the final episode of this environmentalist series, The Middle-earth Connection looks to the future of Aotearoa and its natural resources. The focus here is the people; how can Kiwis live sustainably, and how can tourists enjoy the country responsibly. The episode is packed with expert interviews; including discussions of urban living, eco-villages, renewable energy, going organic and Queenstown's booming tourism trade. As always, a connection is made between the narrative themes and filming locations of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and New Zealand's environmental cares. It is even narrated by actor Craig Parker, who played the elf Haldir in the movies.
