Ian Hughes' breakthrough role was in Harry Sinclair's acclaimed TV series and movie Topless Women Talk About Their Lives. He played Ant, a hapless writer whose script involves topless women standing in kitchens and garages...talking about their lives. Topless was followed by multiple guest roles in TV (Shortland Street, Xena: Warrior Princess, Bliss) and film, including starring in his own Kafkaesque short, The Waiting Room, and acclaimed play Ship Songs. Since 2015 Hughes has worked increasingly behind the camera. A;mong other titles, he has directed dozens of episodes of Shortland Street and Australian soap Home and Away.
