TV3 news anchor Mike McRoberts spent a decade as a radio reporter, then made his name as a sports journalist with TVNZ in the mid 90s. After six years with the state broadcaster, including occasional shifts reading the primetime news, he moved to TV3. From 2005 to 2024 he co-presented TV3's flagship 6pm bulletin first with Hilary Barry, then Samantha Hayes. During his time at TV3 he filed reports from post earthquake Christchurch, Iraq, Haiti and a war ravaged Gaza.
Biography
After making his name reporting from varied global hotspots, TV3 news anchor Mike McRoberts makes sure to travel with a passport close at hand. He argues that viewers don't just like seeing local reports from the world's big news events: they've “come to expect it”.
