Set in 1970s Aotearoa, young boy Brian (Elijah Tamati), grieving the loss of his mum, finds comfort in the local convent. Run by the last three nuns (global stars Miriam Margolyes, Jacki Weaver and Judy Davis) in the small town, they form an unlikely team with Brian to help save the convent from developers (Jonny Brugh). High jinks ensue when they steal a car to head to the South Island in search of the title deed. The feature-length directorial debut for actor Nathalie Boltt (Bloodlines, Bombshell) was shot in Christchurch. The New Zealand/Canada co-production is an adaptation of Dame Joy Cowley's book Holy Days.
Death is one of life's great journeys, and journeys are not to be feared.– Sister Agnes (Judy Davis)
