Acclaimed Māori/Samoan musician Jordyn with a Why (Jordyn Morgan) teams up again with soul singer MOHI (Mohi Allen) for an infectious bilingual single that celebrates the rise of young Māori voices in Aotearoa. The pair's first collaboration was another bilingual duet 'Hey Love' in 2023. 'Māku Anō' appears on Morgan's award-winning debut album Hibiscus Moon, Love & Justice. Produced for the series Waiata Anthems, the video sees Morgan and Allen trade verses as they perform in a small studio dotted with old-school TV monitors. Morgan adds to the R&B track's retro feel with her vintage microphone.
I think a lot of the Southside sound, you know, hip-hop was really influential, a lot of R&B, and so I kind of grew up in the era of Nesian Mystik and the rise of Aaradhna.– Jordyn Morgan on her early musical influences, Stuff, 12 July 2025
