Hi Trevor.
My Uncle served as a Petty Officer on LST199 as the radio/RT Operator, and he travelled to the US to collect the ship. Terry (Terance J) McPartlan was one of 5 siblings and we have a picture of him in uniform in Malta, with my Dad, who was there with the Royal Artillery. No date but are assuming this was before the Sicily landings.

My father Dennis Lemar served on LST-199. He participated in Special Operation Odyssey - Force J, which was the very secret practicing of landing tanks onto the beach in the west country in the UK. On D-Day 6th June 1944 at -11:00 hr, he left the spit head in Gosport aboard LST-199. LST-199 headed down mine swept channel 7 to the sector nan-white at Juno beach at Berniere-sur-Mer, Normandy, France where along with Harold, they landed tanks onto Juno Beach. I have lots of information to share.

Wow. Great stories Uncle Harold. Learning a lot about my family I never knew about! I will be trying to set my Dad's computer up (your youngest brother James so he can watch this.)
All the best. Tim Beven. UK.
