Paradise

Emma Paki , Music Video – 1997

from the album Oxygen of Love (1996)

Emma Paki’s 'Paradise' offers a melodic dance of island imagery  you can all but feel the sea breeze, smell the salt on the air, and scrunch the pure white sand between your toes. Images of frangipani and blue water, hula dancers and lush palm fronds are melded with Paki’s melody to share a story of a love that feels like paradise. The video was directed by Kerry Brown, who had previously provided images for Paki’s hit single 'Greenstone', plus a number of key music videos in the late 90s (Dave Dobbyn’s 'Loyal', Che Fu’s 'Chains' and When the Cat’s Away’s cover of 'Melting Pot'). 'Paradise' features on Paki's 1996 album Oxygen of Love.

Her songwriting is disarming with both its melodic sense and its wide eyed lack of guile.
