Second Child

Rock band Second Child were born in West Auckland in 1987 to four high school students. The original lineup was guitarist Chris van de Geer, drummer Luke Casey, bassist Paul Balmer and singer Damien Binder. The band released their first album Magnet in 1991, followed in 1996 by second (and final) album Slinky, which featured singles 'Crumble' and 'Prove Me Wrong'. Second Child amicably separated in the late 90s (van de Geer soon joined Stellar*, while Binder moved to Australia). The band shared stages with American bands Nirvana and Fugazi during their heyday.
