Charlotte
2009 Short film
- Animation
This 48Hours contest winner is deceivingly touching. Ron Snook, a widower in mourning, tries to rekindle the connection with his late wife, via a more unconventional route. His neighbours accuse him of sinister activity. After recruiting his dad to provide the narration, animator and cartoonist Parry Jones almost got double vision — thanks to 20 hours of concentrated drawing, to finish his short but sweet film in a weekend. It was delivered seven minutes before the deadline. Charlotte beat 600+ films to become the first animated, and first South Island entry to take the top prize at 48Hours. It was later invited to festivals overseas.
