Sixteen-year-old horse lover Nicky Wyman (Fiona Anderson) dreams of becoming a top show jumper, but money worries, looming exams and her Dad's gambling problem stand in her way. In this first episode, Nicky saves bay mare Bella from the knackers' yard after she throws off  the daughter of arrogant stable owner Tad Masters (John Mann). Trail bike rider Sam (Tony McKeown) helps hide Bella, and introduces Nicky to the reclusive Snowbuck (Brian McNeill) who spots a future champion in Nicky and the horse – now renamed Moon Jumper. The show was created by pioneering TV writer Julian Dickon (Pukemanu).
