Will the Real Mr Claus Please Stand Up!

TV1 celebrated Christmas with a host of familiar faces in this 1977 comedy/variety special. Ringleaders Roger Gascoigne and Nice One Stu’s Stu Dennison head to a quirky Christmas party, where they are joined by a cavalcade of newsreaders hiding under Santa beards. Among the loopy 70s oddities on show: Brian Edwards opening Christmas presents in school uniform, Selwyn Toogood in an It’s in the Bag sketch, and a chaotic Santa Claus obstacle race. Plus racehorse expert Glyn Tucker talks reindeer races, while madcap band Mother Goose bring their own brand of festive fun with a performance of their own.
