Having completed their first year, five remaining recruits gain the skills needed for modern warfare with counter terrorism and urban combat training. They move onto a restricted base, where they will take on everything from weapons handling in full protective gear, to chemical exposure drills and urban infiltration scenarios. The five take on a training exercise in central Auckland, rappelling down on to a high-rise building, and undertake a large-scale hostage rescue simulation, testing everything they’ve learned alongside police and other Defence Force members.
