In a famously bizarre moment for New Zealand television, National MP Steven Joyce was hit in the face by a dildo in front of assembled media during a 2016 visit to Waitangi. As Minister for Economic Development, Joyce was there representing a government who had just signed the controversial Trans Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA), provoking the now-iconic act of protest. As the dildo makes contact, activist Josie Butler is heard saying "that's for raping our sovereignty" — to which Joyce calmly responds, "Goodo".
