Geraldine Brophy describes herself as a character actor, but her screen roles have often been memorable. For four years she was lovable receptionist Moira Crombie in Shortland Street. Later she thoroughly enjoyed playing a control freak bureaucrat in Seven Periods with Mr Gormsby. Brophy has also danced up a storm on Dancing with the Stars, and won awards for Home Movie and her co-starring role in feel-good feature Second-Hand Wedding.
In this ScreenTalk interview, Brophy talks about:
I play frequently very small parts that are hugely character filled. And so I’m required to jump in the deep end of the pool, swim — not drown — and get out again within 30 seconds. And that's an enormous challenge, and a rewarding one.– Geraldine Brophy, late in this interview
